Jesus Christ came to earth to be crucified
Nailed to a cross - where he hung till he died
The soldiers laughed and cast lots for his clothes
But others mourned him - just who were those?

True followers of Jesus - they were there till the end
Unlikely they even knew that he would live again
Women who mourned this terrible loss
As they wept there at the foot of the cross

Mary Magdalene and Mary, his mother
But there was one more - who was the other?
One who knew that His love had been real
When lifted on that cross - she could only kneel

She had followed him quietly knowing full well
He was more than a prophet, but just who, she couldn't tell
She had seen the miracles worked by his hand
And heard him teach as he traveled the land

For what reason did Jesus Have to die?
She followed Him to Calvary hoping to see why
As he hung there dying, it all became clear
The words he spoke, she could plainly hear

Father forgive them for what they have done
The blood flowing down, he had shed for each one
She too was forgiven as she knelt there that day
A third woman who had chosen to follow His way

His way was truth - and she clung to it
Cleansed by His blood - now she knew it
The woman at the cross - just one of the three
Now forgiven of sin - that woman is Me!
