He was chubby with big blue eyes and the
longest curly eyelashes I'd ever seen. He had a Gerber smile and he was afraid. Afraid
that his mommy would forget to pick him up and leave him with a stranger as she had in the
past. So, each day at naptime, he would ask to sleep right by the front door. That's the
last place he saw her and would be the first place he would see her again. And when she
opened that door, she would see him first. Sleeping by the front door would put him as
close to her as possible and he could still smell her perfume and feel the door she had
walked out. With this as his comfort and hope, he would fall asleep with wet curly
eyelashes and Teddy.
So many times, we, as adults, feel we
have to sleep by the back door and wait until last to see our salvation walk in. We wait
in the back, tuck our head, and hope no one notices. We feel rejected and unloved and
have no hope of anyone ever picking us up, holding us, and wiping the tears from our eyes.
Wrong! Jesus Christ had a front door for all of us. He said, "Behold, I stand at the
door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and
will sup with him, and he with me." Rev. 3:20.
Just like little Sammy, you, also, are a
special person. You can have the comfort of the loving arms of Jesus Christ and the
redemption plan of salvation with the promise of life and life more abundantly...and
access to the front door! He will only enter your door when you unlock it and allow Him
to come in. Only YOU have the lock and the willpower to open the door. Jesus never goes
where He is not welcome! Let Him in today.
